We are Ian and Lorna, an environmentally conscious couple who run the family farm and are the driving force behind Haystax. After 40 years of farming the land, we now embark on a whole new adventure to help the farm live on for generations to come.
Our grandson is the one who started the sparks flying and gave us the idea for Haystax. Over the years, we have watched him interact with the animals on the farm in a way he struggles to with the people around him.
The time he has spent on our farm has had a wonderful calming effect on him and opened up a host of opportunities to learn about the world around him. He has helped us see the positive impact time in the countryside, and around animals, can have for those who are neurodiverse and with disabilities.
Haystax is unique in that it is designed with the needs of those with a wide range of disabilities and neuro diversities in mind but is open to all. A place that not only welcomes the whole family to spend quality time together but also offers work experience opportunities for young adults with additional needs and positive role models for the children who visit us.
Haystax includes a back-to-nature farm experience and woodland area which is fully inclusive to all. It has accessible footpaths and buildings, a Changing Places toilet and a calm and peaceful environment that will not overwhelm those with sensory processing difficulties.
